From June 15, 1955 Anchorage Daily Times: "Anchorage Leveled by A-Bomb." The article notes an "expertly guided atomic missile which exploded at 7:40 am over 7th and D St." But it's not in any history book, probably because it was just an evacuation test. #alaskahistory #alaska

Nov 13, 1942, the USS Juneau light cruiser was destroyed at the Battle of Guadalcanal with only ten survivors. The five Sullivan brothers were among the dead. They enlisted in 1941 with the stipulation of serving together. #juneauhistory #alaskahistory
