If people become insecure, we find they’re three times more likely to desert Labour than if they become more concerned about immigration. Around one-third of Britons felt economically insecure as of April 2025.

Focusing on immigration is a ‘red herring’ when financial security is so foundational.

Can you highlight where other leading soft-lefties fall on this woke/non-woke divide? Considering, as you say, the non-woke stuff is creating vast problems downstream, in an upcoming leadership election the woke/non-woke divide is as consequential as the soft-left/liberal/labourist divide, no?

Interesting vibes/reality mismatch. The YIMBY camp feels urgent when housing/infrastructure take time to bite. Relational politics could deliver soon w/ proper local government funding and a social care fix.

Ultimately the two agendas require each other. Social connection needs secure foundations.
