ive dotted around a lot so can't exactly pinpoint progress but here's a few snaps of mine!! the "roach" lettering was definitely the absolute first thing i did, followed by buttons' ass. the orange cake and the new unicorn parchment are more recent sections. im loving playing with colour atm 💕

am having a hell week at work so have written not a word in the last few days but !!! im SO excited about this kraken ed merstede collab me and samm are cooking up, and i desperately need life to just Stop for a sec so i can get back to it !!!

(important context: ed is literally two apples tall xx)
Ed pushes the fine tip of four wriggling tentacles into his hole. “G-god,” he gasps, and Ed freezes. “No, wait, don’t pull out, don’t— just need a second.” He can feel each one moving, pressing on his inner walls as they feel him out, and Ed’s apologising, got a mind of their own, can’t… can’t fully control them like this, fuck, shoulda warned you, and Stede’s shaking his head because it feels good, it feels fucking wonderful, actually, but it’s all so much, pleasure and the sweetest lick of pain, and it’s Ed, it’s Ed, and between the sensation and the swarming arousal, it’s getting harder to remind himself that this doesn’t mean anything. “It’s okay,” Stede says, voice thick. “I trust you. Whatever you need.”

Stede carefully arranges himself on a comfy ledge, padded out with a precisely selected range of seaweeds, and Ed hops out of his palm and propels himself towards Stede's tail. His tentacles brush the sensitive patch of skin, and Stede nods, babbles assent, as the tip of one pushes between the crease. “Oh, fuck—” he gasps. It's an odd sensation, delicate and smooth and achingly familiar — each of Ed's tentacles is about the same width as Stede's fingers, and Stede knows that prodding feeling all too well from his own ministrations. But it's Ed, so everything is more. The undersides of his tentacles are rough and raised with tiny suckers — Stede barely feels them normally, too small for his skin to register, but on the sensitive flesh of his folds, every bump and raised edge sends sparks through his body. The suckers stay latched onto his flesh for a fraction of a second after Ed moves on, dragging out every sensation for a hair longer than Stede's prepared for, and it feels like Ed is everywhere, swarming him, trailing pleasure in his wake. When he looks down, Ed's only stroking his folds with one careful tentacle. “Holy fuck,” he moans.

When Stede finally drags his face out of the bed and looks at Ed again, he’s pink-cheeked, and his eyes are big and wide and so fucking puppy, and he’s whining like he’s been left outside in the cold. Ed bites back a grin. Not cat-like. Or maybe it is cat-like. Who fucking knows? God, this whole roleplay thing would be so much fucking easier if he knew anything about cats. He does, however, know plenty about Stede, and everything in his body language is screaming for attention. He stares at Ed with as much curiosity as there is suspicion, and his back is arched, ass up, ready to pounce, or play, or just as a fucking invitation, it’s hard to say. Ed crawls a foot or two closer to Stede again, keeping eye contact as much as he can. Slow and steady, giving Stede plenty of time to get used to the idea, and stops when Stede starts to buzz with nerves, or excitement, or protective territorialism. When he’s a few feet away once again, Stede barks. To Ed’s relief, it’s not growling or aggressive, but curious, and feeling like a fucking idiot, he meows back.

Ed’s style is old-school. He likes rules, so Stede has rules. Stede cooks them dinner on the nights they spend together, and he keeps his place tidy. He looks after himself: exercises three times a week and sleeps eight hours a night and has a fortnightly manicure that Ed picks up the bill for. He doesn't touch himself without first asking Ed for permission. He doesn't come until Ed is there to see it, and says the word. Ed dotes on him, and spoils him rotten. It's not about the money, but Ed's got plenty of it, and Stede left most of his estate to Mary and the kids in the divorce, and that makes the flashes of luxury even more appreciated. Gold jewellery and pretty clothes, trips into the city to see the hottest new plays and eat at the nicest restaurants, all on Ed's dime. With this as his foundation, Stede blooms. He shines brighter. Stands taller. He has more energy, and more patience, and more joie de vivre. Lucius asks him if he's bloody with child, because that's the only reason he can think of for why Stede is suddenly glowing, and Stede doesn't dare tell him it's as simple as self-care and a satisfying sex life and that little insignificant detail of having fallen head-over-heels in love. It's all wonderful, really. It's just— Well. It been six months, and Stede knows there were things he had to learn first, he gets that, he doesn't want to make a tit of himself, or of Ed, but— It's been six months, and there's this bit of Ed Stede's never been let in on, that he's been shut down and told kindly, gently, unequivocably, not yet, whenever he's asked about it. And now it's time.

The trouble is, the longer Ed waits, and the more he builds it up in his head, the more he worries he's going to fuck it up. He puts them on, and they don't blend into his hair like Stede's do. When he looks at himself, he just sees a guy wearing cat ears, like he's picked out the world's laziest Halloween costume. And that feels like a fucking failure in itself, because the puppy ears have never once looked like a costume on Stede. Even right back on Day One, he slipped them on and swallowed behind the collar and shifted into an early version of the pupspace he now so easily inhabits. Like he'd grown them himself. Like he was unlocking something that had always been there, deep down in his chest, and he'd finally given it an occasion to roar free. Because Stede was fucking born to be a puppy. Ed, on the other hand, is a guy in cat ears, scowling at his fluorescent-lit self in their grubby bathroom mirror.

(the following should all be read as social media posts xxx) making blackbeard's jumper from his late show performance my entire personality actually someone needs to figure out where he got that from stat because i need like, 12 of them. in every size. lbr this is gonna be one of those times where we get obsessed by a celebrity fashion moment and it turns out it cost like $5000 GUYS I FOUND THE FUCKING JUMPER ?????
