Anarchy Dad
@anarchydad.bsky.social
Striving to raise my kid(s) with kindness and understanding. Unconditional parenting.
Lover of animals. Fighter of fascists. We have obligations to each other as we walk this earth.
So, it lands here: you hold assassination as a kind of grim placeholder — necessary in a sick system, but not the destination. And you raise them toward the destination: a society where people’s dignity is enough to keep rulers in line.

That way, they see your stance not as bloodlust, but as grief mixed with resolve.

Make Hope the Anchor
You don’t have to hide your realism you can tell them: “Dad thinks sometimes ugly things happen in this world to keep rulers in check. But my hope, the world I want you to grow into, is one where people never feel pushed to that edge. Where we settle things by care, not force”

If they grow up understanding that distinction, they’ll know why violence happens — and they’ll know the goal is to live in a world where illegitimate authority doesn’t exist, so nobody feels pushed to use it.

Teach Them to Spot the Difference Between Power and Authority

Anarchists often say: power is natural (parents have power to care for kids, skilled people have power in their craft, etc.), but authority is when power is imposed illegitimately.

That’s something you can model right now: show them that direct care, community building, and solidarity are the real long game. Assassination might rattle a throne, but it’s community that actually changes a society.

Raise Them in the “Yes, And” Tradition

Anarchists through history didn’t just tear things down — they built parallel structures: co-ops, mutual aid networks, schools, collectives. That’s the “yes, and” part. Yes, resist power when it crushes people. And, build the alternatives you want to see.

That way, you’re not teaching them that assassination is noble or romantic — you’re teaching them it’s a warning sign: if people feel like that’s the only lever left, something is deeply wrong in the structure.

The “Now but Not Forever” Principle

You can tell them, “In this world, sometimes people feel forced to act violently because other tools are taken away. But violence is not the world I want for you — it’s the symptom of a broken system, not the cure.”

I tried to chose my words very carefully. And I hope this may help any of you wrestling with the same things.

Not entirely sure where they got it from but I think a nice lady in Montreal. ( if you’re that lady and you’re reading this, I love the pants and patches.)
