A bit unnerving to read this good detective story, for Tim and his wife: They know the Oxford based author, and it’s happening on their street in Oxford, plus there are lots of similarities between the characters in the book and two of them…

Balkans meeting upper middle class England: Wife, (she and Tim in a concert audience): Someone put tons of aftershave, so annoying! Tim: No need to be so loud, it’s rude. Wife: It is rude to over-perfumise in a crowd. Tim: No need to be rude about rudeness!

Tim is off to Dublin for a PHD thesis examination at UCD (University College Dublin). He’s always happy to return to Dublin where he lived 1980-1988 (His first job, at Trinity College Dublin).
