Today I went through all country to pick up a buffet from 1916 for my #workshop . From the wine yards to the mountain forrest. Love it, thought there's still some restauration job left to do. Though the color is a little bit out of topic, I even start to like it. Let's see.

Just walked through a tool shop before. Saw a "planer setup hammer" for 50€. Seriously?)) What would it do better than that piece from the apple tree in my garden?

The raw #spokeshave made of #pear wood is finished. Happy with the result - fits better to my hands, more accurate handling and by changing angle & size of the base it can perform now even tiny concave structures. Now jumping for some days in a bottle of #linseed oil.

Morning #coffee in the workshop. Need to make a new #spokeshave, my old one broke. Originally made from Indonesian #redwood, I have some piece of #pear #wood around for the new one. Think it will look nice! #woodworking #pearwood

A new jewelry box. Sometimes i have a solid plan. Sometimes i have a plan and while building I nevertheless do what i feel to do. Sometimes I simply start building, without any planing. Like now. The sides will be from #oak wood. That's what is clear so far. Rest will come. #woodworking #boxmaking

I did it :) ... As far away from perfect as the moon from the sun, but for the first Kumiko it's ok I guess...

First steps with Kumiko. Still some way to walk, but so much fun and relaxing in some way

Extreme archaic tool, but an surprisingly effective alrounder in my #spokeshave garage

Fail but no fail - It should have been a box lid. Wasn't satisfied how it turned out. Now it's going to be a cutting board :)

Applied 3rd layer of frech polish now. Might add another 3 or 4, then final polishing. Love the process, though such small surfaces are rather difficult to handle... #woodworking #boxmaking #shellac #Frenchpolish

Anybody out there in the #woodworking bubble who has experience adding Dragon's Blood pigments to #shellac polish? Or is it better to mix it with oil like tung oil for a basic application before the shellac polish?

After more than 30 years of manually sharpening my chisels and planers I finally bought a wet stone sharpening system. So far I was sitting each month one full day in my workshop, sharpening by hand. Now it's done in an hour... Less time for maintainance, more time left for building! #woodworking

Edge bandings are always a little bit tricky when it comes to freestyle corner angles, but that just multiplies the happiness when everything is sitting tight and accurate 🖤 --> Anybody out there got a nice sort of shooting board to deal with varying angles?

#pear #wood is such a wonderful wood with a rich variation of colors and lively grain structures. Love it, always a joy! #woodworking
