"Two things are both true to me right now: AI agents are amazing and a huge productivity boost. They are also massive slop machines if you turn off your brain and let go completely."

PREACH!
Weekend thoughts on Gas Town, Beads, slop AI browsers, and AI-generated PRs flooding overwhelmed maintainers. I don't think we're ready for our new powers we're wielding. lucumr.pocoo.org/2026/1/18/ag...

This article is exactly where I am with my thoughts and experiences with AI coding right now:

Promoting AI agents
At the end of last year, AI agents really came alive for me. Partly because the models got better, but more so because we gave them the tools to take their capacity beyond pure reasoning. Now coding a...

My husband: “looks like you have a lot of work today”

Me *spent the last 2 hours setting up and playing around with omarchy and planning to spend the next couple of hours learning and tinkering with nvim*: “Yep, that’s right!”

The golden thread
AI can serve us as a force multiplier, augmenting our own agency and making the most of our own effort, hard work and value. Not by replacing it.

Trying out openrouter for now

Will also give Zen a try after I run out of credits here
I ran out of premium requests in my copilot subscription

I’m thinking what to try next

Openrouter
Claude subscription

Or something else?

I could continue with copilot, but it does not allow for conversations unrelated to programming

Any suggestions?

Another day of being amazed by AI coding

- Helped me migrate a ton of files from JS to TS
- Also fixed any arising TS errors

One downside: it did hallucinate that some errors were pre-existing while they actually weren’t

I realise that could be avoided easily with a simple extra todo tho

I think a fundamental difficulty everyone trying out AI for coding faces at first is that since everyone says “AI is like a junior dev”, we treat it as such

We give them a task’s overview and want them to figure out everything themselves

This is good instruction for humans, bad for AI

Alright, tried opencode along with tips from a few articles I read on how to use Claude Code

I must say, I really enjoyed it!!

I finished the work that would’ve taken me 2 days in about 3/4th day

And I feel it could go even faster as my own prompting skills get better

Well, this convinced me to try OpenCode once more

Last time, I tried to use an agent to update Storybook from v6 to v10 in an old project

I wasn’t happy with the results and had to do a lot of work by hand

But, now I’m wondering if the problem was with my setup and/or prompting

Saw this on the journey back to India’s Silicon Valley

I never realised the massive scale of these structures

Building a product is so weird

You spend a week with little to no progress because you’re stuck on something

Next, you’re blazing through the feature checklist

Went into a deep dive of Auth and related practices and techniques today

Don’t really like the idea of using Auth providers

Better Auth seems awesome but my client had some very specific requirements

So decided to use Lucia Auth as a guide and implement it myself

Gonna be an exiting week ahead!

Was gonna implement tracing in a Hono app today but it seems wayyyy more complicated than metrics, especially since I’m doing it for the first time

🫸 Pushed this towards the end of the development plan…

Best backend stack right now with full type safety and intelligence:

- Hono
- Hono Zod OpenAPI middleware
- Hono RPC

Love it!!!
