The AFSCME staff that the administration threatened to layoff were civilian employees in MPD, not anyone from the Mayor’s office. AFAIK, none of the electeds’ staff are unionized.

Also, two thumbs down to the administration for threatening the layoffs in the first place, with MPD’s $200 million budget.

None of them left. This was at the start of the meeting. They just take turns presenting resolutions.

I assume it also requires having enough supporters in the meeting to vote for you in whatever you’re running for. That’s what we need to be organizing for.

Is anyone prepping a “how to engage with and participate in the DFL process” guide for community? We need mass mobilization at the internal meetings like there was for convention.

Then we need to talk about which seats they chose to fill and which they didn’t.

With the two mini golfs and that football bowling place, I have to assume 3/4 will be closed in 2-3 years.

I like it. It’s got a motivational vibe.

I actually don’t think they are.

Are the proposal even public yet? How is it ethical to report on this, let alone categorize the motives behind them if the public can’t even see what they are?
November 29, 2025 at 6:12 PM
Yeah…. I really don’t think it’s gonna play out in public. The decision making and negotiations for this and the committee assignments is going to happen behind closed doors and we’ll only ever see the results.

These announcements are so weird to me, considering it’s an internal decision that the public has no say over. It feels like they’re just forcing more politics on us. “What if elections were always?!”

Congratulations. You’ve won my award for the most anxiety inspiring post.

I have also noticed the combo of no doorbell and locked porch. These folks HATE surprises.

There’s no wrong way to generate a family.

Gotta say, I agree. It’s a HUGE f’ing nuisance that we can’t find the willpower to house, feed, and support our most vulnerable community members. That’s what he meant… right?
