To me, making animation has always been about capturing the motion inside an object, as opposed to just capturing the whole object while it's moving

Have you ever tried to animate something small? Like the classic bouncing ball? If you start with small classic animations, you learn ways to take your favorite characters and turn them into shapes simple enough to animate too, even if it'd still take a LOT of work to draw over them fully later.

It's pretty easy to learn with a PC or laptop or something, or an old Nintendo console, so if you have those things I could help!
Its way harder and more annoying on new consoles, so generally not worth.
