I sing shape note, solve crimes in my head, and am 0.00001% done with reading every book ever written.
Although I read similar themes in 2024 and 2025 (science/ethics, women’s stories, history, civilization vs. chaos), this year I gravitated toward lighter tales. I leaned more toward hopefulness, humanity, and comfort — something we all need more of. Details at www.amypeveto.com #BookSky

My December reading theme was apparently, “Murder and mystery, but make it fun!” I met great characters and started a series I’m excited to continue in 2026. Reviews at www.amypeveto.com #BookSky

I've spent the last year digging into my reading life -- namely, the kinds of books that make me happiest vs. what I "should" be reading. Turns out it's wayyyy more fun to read from your own TBR than someone else's. More at www.amypeveto.com #BookSky

My (mostly) Non-fiction November reading averaged 4.2 stars — the highest it’s been all year! You know what that’s not? A coincidence. Reviews at www.amypeveto.com #BookSky

Well October was a weird month -- for reading and pretty much everything else. Two 5-star reads that may have changed my life, surrounded buy a bunch of stuff that just didn't hit the spot. Reviews at www.amypeveto.com #BookSky

The rest of the weekend was spent on puzzles, book shopping, and poking through antique stores. I found another Ballerina-patterned dish to add to my Depression glass collection, and pondered the sellers' decision to place such radically different reading materials right next to each other.

Next we attended a live show of the Big Boo Cast. The hosts were hilarious and heartfelt, and it was a great way to spend an evening with my mom. I hadn't been inside the Aztec Theatre before -- like all "motion picture palaces" built in the 1920s, it's known for its subtle decor and theming. 😱

Before our evening engagement we got to spend a few hours at the Alamo. I hadn't been in at least 20 years, and was pleased to see the changes and expansion of the plaza. Check image alt text for nerdy/descriptive details.

Enjoyed a girls' weekend in San Antonio with my mom. First things first, saying hello to the Riverwalk and getting lunch.

I wrote a review of what may be my favorite read of the year for my local bookstore. www.thesecretlantern.com/blog/the-cha... May it find many more readers! #BookSky

A recent work trip took me through Galway, Ireland where I spent 45 minutes enjoying the labyrinth that is Charlie Byrne's Bookshop. 10/10, would happily get lost in again!

How is September over already? More middling reads than I would have like, but there were two books I need to PUT IN MY VEINS. Reviews at www.amypeveto.com. #BookSky

Been avoiding World War Z because zombies (and now pandemics I guess?) make me super anxious. But the full-cast audiobook was SO freaking good. Loved the focus on how public health/military tactics would need to change, and how different countries might respond. Might be a favorite of 2025. #BookSky

Finished The Change by Kirsten Miller more than a week ago and am obsessed. The idea of women gaining literal powers at an age when western culture expects them to fade into the background is so delicious I can hardly stand it. And that tag line: "It's not over. It's time." Chef's kiss! #BookSky

Seven days in Alaska! Here's the highlights.

1. The world's second largest national forest.
2. Glaciers.
3. LOTS of glaciers.
4. Meet Kelp, the local showoff.
5. We biked down a mountain (and didn't die).
6. We learned about totem poles and saw a craftsman at work.
7. Alaska's got jokes.
