We've traditionally used N. benthamiana for transient color assays in our lab. We recently tried the same assay in N. tabacum and the results are ✨stunning✨! This plant was injected with an anthocyanin-activating R2R3-MYB on the left, and empty plasmid on the right.

We've been growing monkeyflowers hydroponically for the past few months using the design by @atinygreencell.bsky.social. The plants are doing great, and this has given us the opportunity to experiment with some fun chemical treatments! The aesthetic appeal is also a nice bonus!

Hello BlueSky 👋🏼 I'm new to this community so here's a quick intro--I'm an Asst. Research Prof in the Yuan lab at UConn. I use the anthocyanin leaf stripe phenotype of Mimulus verbenaceus (pictured) to study the genetics, development, and evolution of novel phenotypes. Also love running & dogs.
