It literally doesn’t hurt them. The bill hurts trans kids by making their healthcare illegal. Not that hurting a few trans bigots would justify a bill that harms all trans people, but that isn’t even what’s happening here.

I’m super sympathetic to the Byler kids, because there was a time I would have been right there with them. There are some seeds in cannon for a decent friends to lovers story. You can find 100s of versions on AO3. But that was never the story the Duffers were telling.

I feel like there’s a misconception that the hero needs to end up with the person of their choice or it’s a bad ending. But it’s not queerbaiting just because the gay hero doesn’t get his guy. Especially when cannon is pretty unambiguous that said guy is straight and really clueless.

In fairness, while it’s absolutely terrifying for…um…other purposes, it’s a really solid meat tenderizer.

That makes sense. Wicked and The Wonderful Wizard of Oz are both one volume in an expansive story. But the musical makes a self-contained story, and I have no idea where the story would go from here in a sequel, or why people want that.

The musical is so different from the books, though, you couldn’t make any of the books in sequels to the movie. You need Liir (Elphie’s son) and Shell (Elphie’s brother) for the events of the book to happen, and neither of them exist in the movie

The passage is about about not being able to hide who you really are from God. In context, “the heart is deceitful” isn’t saying your heart is untrustworthy and you shouldn’t listen to it. It’s saying that the Lord will search your heart, and your heart is gonna tell on you.

My 11 year old and I received our copy today! They aren’t much of a reader, but they love Nimona, so I think they can be convinced to read Scarlet Morning (and I’ll enjoy it either way 🥰)

I looked it up, there were 3 deaths in traffic accidents in Sawyer County in 2024. Duffy is terrible, but this is not a meaningful comparison.

The population of Sawyer County is less than 19K. So any stat of fatalities per 100K is going be misleading.

Unfortunately not. Most of them don’t care what the pope says. They’re either fundamentalist Protestants who think the pope is the antichrist or trad Catholics who think they’re more Catholic than the pope.

Aww, that’s disappointing. Having been born and raised on the South Side and a Cubs fan, I liked the idea that I had these things in common with the pope.
