3 / Boycott the businesses of specific billionaires, like Elon Musk. File lawsuits. Sign petitions. Organize communities, including deep red ones. Support people who get arrested.

- Nika Kovac, Slovenian activist, as reported by Ben Rhodes, national security advisor to Pres. Obama, in the NYT
Opinion | Democrats Can Stop Trump and Save America
The Democratic Party can’t stop America’s spiral into autocracy and oligarchy unless it casts off its stale talking points and reimagines what it stands for.

2 / Make noise however you can. Amplify the voices of people out in the country. Hold town halls where Republicans are afraid to.

1 / Spotlight harms that will come to everyday people, not bureaucracies or the prerogatives of a loathed institution like Congress. Protest at shuttered facilities in communities, not agencies in the capital.

Extortion! Plain and simple. "It appears as if the firm — which is dominated by Democrats and has long prided itself in being at the forefront of the fight against the government for civil rights — was capitulating to Mr. Trump over an executive order that is likely illegal."
Law Firm Bends in Face of Trump Demands
Paul, Weiss — one of three law firms targeted by President Trump as part of his retribution campaign — said it resolved the conflict by agreeing to a range of commitments.

Dem leadership, I am crying out. Pls lead. Saying how bad the Trump Musk coup is w/o saying how to fight back isn't helpful. Saying "send money for the midterms" feels like you are living in a fantasy. No way we'll have legit midterm elections at this rate. We need unified action & leadership now!

What a shame the vast majority of these Senators won't be alive long enough to see history books paint them as the cowards they are, handing over the purse to a traitor and a felon at the moment when their country needed them most.

The French senator Claude Malhuret pointed out that the Weimar Republic fell in less than two months. History shows us the only way to win is with a unified resistance. Where is the unity, where is the leadership? These are real questions & if I have missed something, please direct me.

Tell me what the millions of us who are willing to work to stop this horror can do together. I am not trying to abdicate my own responsibility here but I know enough to know I am not qualified for the job. Project 2025 was published two years ago. They gave us their playbook. Why is there no plan?

But right now I just want to focus on the absolute basics. Before you talk to me about an art show, tell me what you are doing to safeguard my personal data, close any loopholes Trump is exploiting, and reinforce separation of powers.

The Dems couldn't even manage a unified response to Trump's speech last week. When I visit my Democratic senator and representatives' websites, the first thing I see are calls for a Congressional art show. I've worked my entire life in the arts and I believe they are vital to the human experience.

So far no one I've posed this question to has had an answer & everyone wants one. Who has a plan to save American democracy & what actions do I need to take? It isn't Indivisible. I'm a lifelong Dem & I am sick of hearing "help us defeat Repubs in the midterms." Will still have a country then?
