Imagine being a government agency so corrupt that a federal judge issues an order that you have to stop lying to people about what’s in legal documents you try to make them sign. “Defendants shall not misrepresent the contents of any papers they provide to Detainees”

This is not the suburbs. It’s in the city of Chicago.
This is also what the neighborhoods in DC where ICE is kidnapping people and assaulting neighbors look like: beautiful, peaceful urban neighborhoods with a mix of single family homes and apartments, lots of affluent white people living there too.

This was helpful. It outlines the governor’s power to remove the director of the state police for “incompetence, neglect of duty, or malfeasance in office.” So Pritzker has the power to remove the “Director of Police” if he is, for example, failing to prevent his troops from brutalizing people.

I googled it as you asked. Here’s what I found:

Barely more accurate than a coin flip

I didn’t love when Pritzker said he’d be happy to have Trump send more federal agents to Chicago as long as they were DEA or ATF.

Thanks for updating the story. But does @democracydocket.com not put up correction notices when you get a fact wrong and then fix it? That’s troubling!

Remind me, how many left arms are humans supposed to have? And how do sleeves work?

Who fired the tear gas at these protesters in Los Angeles, @washingtonpost.com? Why not say that it was their own government, and name which police or military agency did it, rather than using this exonerative passive voice to make it sound like the tear gas fired itself?

and another thing: the kennedy center is not mad. please dont put in the newspaper that trump got mad

The only way that footnote could have been more savage is if she’d reproduced the typo the plaintiffs noted in their opposition.

The Kennedy Center has just announced that they will be hosting four drag shows as part of their 2025-26 Broadway touring season.

(Also, only one show that hasn’t already played in DC in the last two years. The season sucks, which will make my boycott a lot easier.)

It’s not even the first time *today* that the NYTimes has given platforms to eugenicists. The campaign to illegally withhold birthright citizenship from babies born in the US to immigrant parents is all about the racist belief that immigrants pollute the American gene pool.

This is a direct threat against federal judges. Miller says whether they will try to suspend habeas “depends on whether the courts do the right thing or not.” He (falsely) claims fed courts can’t hear immigration cases. He’s saying they’ll try to end habeas if judges continue to defy Trump’s wishes.

Should be the laser background that all of us 80s babies had in our school photos.

Free DC Library access to the NYT website is suspended because Trump and congressional Republicans (assisted by Chuck Schumer and his cronies) voted as part of the federal budget to make it illegal for DC to spend our own local tax dollars implementing our own local balanced budget.

The Washington Council of Lawyers, which is DC’s voluntary bar association for public interest law and pro bono legal work, made these endorsements for the DC Bar Board of Governors election. I found them helpful.

This is pure pro-Trump propaganda from the NYT. There is no “trade conflict” other than Trump’s unprovoked attack on free trade. “Cracking down” on Americans buying things we need is stupid. Trump does not “understand intimately” what the bond yield is, much less its effect on long-term lending.

Quinn Emmanuel represents Elon Musk on several matters. Last week, Perkins Coie asked QE to help them sue Trump for unconstitutional retaliation. QE said no. Then Paul Weiss retained QE in an identical matter, and QE settled with Trump (which really means Musk.) Maybe PW/QE always planned to bend?
