I started getting really into this when we had a friend in town from DC who was very disoriented during a July patio dinner. Sun was up until after 9 pm that night!

One thing I’d overlooked in the past is that Detroit’s “More Daylight” campaign caught on in Cleveland, which switched to Eastern Time in 1914, a year before Detroit did. That persuaded some reluctant Detroit alderman to make the switch. (Windsor was also on ET throughout this debate!)
