The cover of my next 🩸📚 is so promising that even Riley is a little concerned about it. #booksky

My next read, featuring Riley and his Eagles jersey: Gravewater Lake by A. M. Strong and Sonya Sargent. I love the cover on this one. #booksky 🩸📚

Forgot to post, but I finished The Reappearance of Rachel Price by Holly Jackson last night! 4 stars for me. It was a bit slow at parts, but i enjoyed it right up until the end... it kinda went off the rails a bit unrealistically, but I still liked it anyway. #Booksky

My @thestorygraph.com stats for January! This is a cool thing I didn't know they had. So glad I started using them in January. #booksky

It starts with a cute family tree, so I'm in.

Riley gives a sniffspection to my next read of the year, The Reappearance of Rachel Price! From scifi back to... I think this is a mystery / thriller? Idk. #booksky

4 stars to my 12th book of the year, Aetherbound by E. K. Johnston. I had some issues with the pacing, but it was an enjoyable book overall. #booksky Full short review at Storygraph: app.thestorygraph.com/reviews/9a31...

Okay, this made me laugh. From a scifi book in a futuristic society where they have machines and "magic" that analyzes bodies and thus don't need such gross things as drawing blood samples, haha. #booksky 🪐📚

Here's Riley posing with my next read! He looks annoyed to have been awoken for this. Personally, I just hope its less weird than the last one lol. #booksky🪐📚

3.5 stars to read #11, Glass Houses by Madrline Ashby. What a weird book. There were parts I hated (like when she referred to the Milky Way as a cum smear???), and also just, nearly every man in this book in general. It felt like there was a lot happening, not cohesively. #booksky 🪐📚😆

Riley can't believe I interrupted his nap just to get a picture of him with my next read. The audacity. But it's my thing, okay. (I apologized, I promise.) #booksky 💙📚🪐

This sure was an interesting choice in sticker placement the librarians made, lol. #Booksky 💙📚🪐

Riley thinks my next read, #10 of the year, may be a little too scary looking for him, haha. It's This World Is Not Yours by Kemi Ashing-Giwa. It's a lot shorter than my last one, so it may be a quick read. #booksky 🩸📚🪐

Five stars to The Last Astronaut by David Wellington. Tbh, I don't often read books by male authors, but this was well worth it. Very tense, realistic characters, loved all the science aspects. It felt understandable to me and well explained. Had me on the edge of my seat. 💙📚🪐

Another trip to the library, here is my resulting haul. Probably will read an ebook in between, but I'm excited for these. #booksky 🪐📚🩸

Nothing like reading in quiet while your husband watches the football game, and your lays next to you in his matching jersey, haha. #booksky 📚🪐

Riley taking a break from his important window-watching duties to check out my next read, #9 of the year, The Last Astronaut by David Wellington. (Taking a swing from horror back into scifi.) #booksky 🪐📚

4 stars to Five Survive by Holly Jackson. This was a fast paced & very tense read. Four teens & 2 young adults trapped in an RV with a sniper outside. I felt like all the characters were pretty distinct, I spent most of the book on edge. Spoilery thoughts below. #BookSky 📚🩸

Not just a map, but also, a Floorplan!

Riley checking out my next read, #8 of the year, Five Survive by Holly Jackson. I'm excited to get into it. It starts with a map... Always love a book with a map, haha. #booksky 🩸📚

Another five stars read! Book #7 of the year is What the Woods Took by Courtney Gould. It took a little bit to get to the horror aspects of the book, but I didn't mind, bc it was so well written and I got attached to the characters so quickly. Really well done horror. #booksky 🩸📚
January 22, 2025 at 1:23 AM
I haven't gotten to the horror yet, but I'm enjoying "what the woods took" so far. Love when a dark book makes me laugh. (And even without the horror parts creeping in yet, kids getting kidnapped and forced into wilderness therapy is pretty dark.) #Booksky 💙📚🩸

Apparently it also smells interesting.

As usual, here is Riley to show off my next read, #7 of the year... What The Woods Took by Courtney Gould! Gorgeous cover.
