Historian. Into the history and memory of Italy’s far right - how it’s remembered, how it remembers. Antifascist. University of Bristol. She/her.
Vastly outnumbered by antifascists, but nonetheless deeply depressing to watch the so-called ‘Bristol patriots’ march to a refugee hotel with Crusader iconography and chants about extermination. But, in the words of the counter protest, “there are many many more of us than you”

Chuffed to see this review of my book in La Repubblica this week, by Benedetta Tobagi!

Incidentally the same week Meloni ‘remembered’ the Bologna bombing without mentioning the word neofascism.

Very much looking forward to being part of a UNESCO roundtable in Paris this afternoon to discuss how education can respond to the rise of polarised ideologies and uncertainties. I’ll be talking about antifascist pedagogies and how knowledge of the past can build resistance today.

A total joy to officially launch my book yesterday with the help of @georgenewth.bsky.social! So lovely to see friends and students from different departments and big thanks to the 🇮🇹 department for hosting (and to Asda for the book cake 😂)

Took this photo last week, the day after more than 1000 people performed the Fascist salute on this very spot in via Acca Larenzia. Only one person was stopped by police: the one who shouted ‘viva la resistenza’

Day 2 of the George Mosse Program’s conference ‘1964-2024: Fascism Seminar Revisited’ at the beautiful American Academy in Rome. Today we have panels on the Fascist body, imagery, and empire. A day of brain buzzing!

Bristol staff and students! If you’re passing through Woodland Road, please stop by and see the exhibition of my students’ antifascist zines in the Humanities building. They’re 🔥

A fun activity in my Memory class to get them thinking about shared ideas/points of contention among the Memory Studies theorists whose work we’ve looked at so far.

Would love to be a fly on the wall at some of these dinner parties!

Hello BlueSky historians! Well, isn’t this nice?

I’m into the history and memory of Italy’s far right - how it’s remembered and how it remembers. (Oh! And I have a book out in a couple of months, with a pretty nice cover if I do say so) 🗃️
