Trauma therapist, horror fan, writer. Tired.
The best episode of The X-Files? S2, Ep.14: 'Die Hand Die Verletzt'.
Profile pic is Alice Palmer from 'Lake Mungo'.
I wish teenage me - attempting to navigate identity through the early internet days of AOL/MSN messenger, My Space, Tumblr - had been able to see 'We're All Going to the World's Fair'. It would have been incredibly validating.
Such a cool film (and it's on C4 catch up for UK folks).

Love a bit of local dystopic graffiti.

Aw, thank you for the invite but I can't make your Halloween party - I've got Big Plans ruining myself emotionally.

Secret forest door. Would you go through?

Didn't love 'V/H/S Halloween' (more misses than hits this year) BUT 'Kidprint' is one of the darkest entries I've seen and very effective. Will be thinking about it for a while.

Rewatching 'AHS: Hotel' after ten years and I forgot how sumptuous it is. The outfits! The music! The hotel lobby!

'Bring Her Back' is wonderfully nihilistic and extremely mean in places. Plus a second vote for 'Haunt', love that film.

Best character in horror, fight me: Javier from 'Grave Encounters'.
"Yeah, I saw a ghost. Right over there. It was really scary."

Absolutely blown away by 'Alice, Darling'. A beautiful exploration of the insidiousness of coercive control and the importance of grounded, compassionate people who will call the bullshit what it is: abuse.
Double-bill it with the incredible 'Woman of the Hour'. Anna Kendrick is a force of nature.

It's just not autumn without a new Mike Flanagan show.
Guess it's time for another rewatch!

'Bring her Back' is incredible: brutal, nihilistic, heart-breaking. Watch it watch it watch it watch it then give the Philippou brothers a V/H/S segment to revel with. Do it!

The world is rubbish so here is an appreciation post for goth characters in horror films who also seem like sweethearts. Might be part 1 of several...
Eric from 'Final Destination: Bloodlines', Colin from 'Jennifer's Body', Eric from 'The Crow', Stephen from 'Dread'.

I hope 'Alien: Earth' sticks with the crew on the doomed ship rather than the boring AI children. (it won't, I appreciate that plotline has crashed out).
SHOW ME people getting chased by various xenomorph variants through a pastiche to 1979 space travel.
This. Is. What. I. Want.

He was also in an underrated episode of Criminal Minds, 'The Fox', and stole the episode as a bereaved father.

“I intend to enjoy the time I have left. And I suggest you do the same. Life is precious. Enjoy every single second. You never know when… Good luck”
🖤😭🖤

This man was my first proper horror 'crush' and I love that they gave him such a beautiful send off. Gonna miss you, Tony Todd.

Finally watched 'Five Nights at Freddy's'. Good grief.
Not a single jumpscare?

Off to rewatch 'Willy's Wonderland'...

Skye is magic.

If you haven't seen 'American Mary', maybe today should be the day.
Is it a perfect film? No, but is it a hugely cathartic watch in a world with few consequences and zero accountability for offenders? Maybe!

Horror fam! I am writing a personal piece and am looking for film or TV (esp. horror) which reflects the experience of chronic pain, symbolically or realistically, and I'm struggling to think of examples.

I know they are out there - hit me up!

Just watched 'Incendies'. Wow. Just... speechless.
More people need to talk about this film.

Finally kept my appointment with the Wicker Man.

'28 Years Later...' did not hold back on the horrors of grief. Genuinely moving reflections on the literal pile of skulls we have yet to reckon with in the (still not post-) Covid times.
Time really hasn't healed anything.
