Oh I get that it's far cheaper, what I don't get, is that a country with such an abundance of renewable energy, has to be tied to another country that has either lied about or has no interest in reducing the cost of energy for its own citizens.

Unfortunately, right now, as a part of the glorious UK, even if we did all have electric boilers, we'd still be subsidising the cost of gas usage.
