As someone that works in local government in a very blue state and city, I can tell you that big corporate builders absolutely want to build housing because there is a profit to be made, but local land use policies and environmental laws absolutely prevent them from doing so.

It was shocking to see how unprepared and unserious Seder was in this discussion. So many of the critiques of Klein and Thompson are just more culture war issues and no real engagement with the underlying idea of making sure government works properly.
