Lincoln made the same point. 19th Century America had its share of anti-immigrant sentiment. Irish and Germans — and Chinese, were targets then. Lincoln had a lot of German support. The American Revolution had a lot of immigrant support.

Ideally, law is the glue that binds our diverse society together. But the law must apply to everyone. It must be consistent with official action. It must be consistent over time. It must be clear and knowable. The Seditious Six have destroyed our system of laws and put themselves above it.

I, for one, am outraged. When SCOTUS destroyed the Constitution with Trump v. US, it may have thought the law breaking would be rare and occasional, not constant and continuous. We no longer have the rule of law in any meaningful sense.

In a typical year, with 1 million legal immigrants, that’s less than 0.3% of the US population. Does not seem hard to absorb. Immigrants also bring less crime and more innovation, so US is a net winner.
