The air of mystery may actually be contributing to my desire to buy your book, but the actual mystery is militating against it. Any further hints? Sounds fascinating.

Likewise, my family, teachers, friends parents and grandparents. My social circle all studied it at various levels and although no expert, when called upon I've taught short courses.

Has anyone seen the tattoo? I just looked up the totenkopf, and I have to confess that I don't think I would have clocked many of them as Nazi out of context. A lot of those I'd have just been 'skull and crossbones, pirate style'. It's not as if I'm a Holocaust illiterate either.

He is doing the 'lereacha, asher kamocha' reading. Fine it's right there for the taking, and anyone who opens miqraot gedolot sees it right there alongside everything else (I can't remember whose reading it is), but to claim that is *the* Jewish reading!!? Manipulation.

I made a similar point on the other place. Everything the clowns say about Hebrew's consonant shifts is also evidence that Maltese is not a semitic language.

Hebrew was never a true semitic language! It was already polluted beyond redemption by the significant contribution of Sumerian. Deep down to the אפסי-ארץ, which is to say polluting the sweet waters of Apsu. Curse us rootless cosmopolitans! Mixing it up since Mesopotamia!

It's also worth pointing out that the 'de-semitisization' of Hebrew was already well underway under the influence of Persian influenced 'official Aramaic', and that by the time of the Mishna gave us a document largely formed around what looks like a participle based present tense.

Did Rabbi Yishmael's sample have a beit hamedrash tan or not? Given the context in Negaim, which is clinical, probably a sun-exposed population. That's enough, I'm starting to feel ill. None of this matters to Jews, but these race-obsessed goons are out on both general principle and specific record

2nd century Palestine, Rabbi Yishmael generalized (presumably our eretz yisraeli community) complexion as like 'eshkora' or boxwood. Google it. We were mostly a sort of honey-ish tone, but some of us were bright green (when we kept our leaves on).

To be fair, it's not an unreasonable translation into a language that had begun to make hard and fast distinctions between so-called 'fish' and 'whales'. Idiomatically, 'big fish' excludes whales in a way that 'dag gadol' historically has not.

The question isn't whether bluesky is less toxic than xitter, or a better place to go for a convo (it is). The question is whether we continue to practice a form of politics that shrinks our tents for an illusion of solidarity. I'm not sure. Not accounts I follow, but I still see it in replies.

I think that you might have this backwards. European iconography of demons and witches as hook
-nosed is an invocation of their Jewishness.
September 2, 2025 at 6:32 AM
I may be missing context here, but the 'Italians aren't white' thing is American. Most people trading in 'hook nose jew' tropes most definitely thought of Italians as European, to the extent that'European' was a meaningful category to them.

I've managed to kill mine somehow. Amazing while it lasted! My daughter and I would sometimes just gawp at it and tell each other it couldn't be real.

Wow. Talk about false consciousness, or as Marx put it 'capture by the sitra achra'.

So glad to find a fellow fan of the crab spider! This one hanging out on a dianthus or a 'pink Pink' if you prefer :)

Now we have one forum used for all. Fora at the appropriate scale contain feedback mechanisms: "we tried that Walt, and poor Mina got buried!", but perhaps with the Always and Everywhere forum most of us have an effectively infinite caucus of always-already persuaded pals ready to back us up
May 25, 2025 at 4:40 PM
I wonder if this is (in part) a product of the absence of the localizing contexts that used to contain these debates? Town, district, State, national forums would have provided appropriate pragmatic backdrops.

There is a difference between saying 'we must try - and be mindful of unintended consequences', and 'if it doesn't make it into the platform there's no point.' Unfortunately there has been quite a bit of the latter about on the onlines.

And we continue to persuade where the stakes of losing are lower, and the odds of success (electoral or cultural) are higher.
