Cutting the fashion fabric for the overskirt! The pattern piece is the life sized version of the top half from the mini template pictured in the skeet above. Sort of amazed that I got it to work.

This is what that French pattern looks like. It's kind of like a protractor. You pin a specialized measurement tape to the crosshairs, and then you mark out the dots and crosses on pattern paper following the radiating lines. You then connect the dots, and you get a full sized pattern piece.

Corset construction begins! I finished the skirt the other day. After I build the corset, I'll need to draft the hip drape and shoulder drape. I have a, uh, "pattern" that uses a French method of drafting from the 1930s, so we'll see how that goes.

I'm making a 1950s evening gown (but make it Jack Skellington). Working on the corset muslin now! It will be black satin with handpainted stripes, because that's the only way to get it Jacklike.
