I mean this is a franchise that began with a poster which terrified us 10-year-olds: "In space, no one can hear you scream." Are you kidding? The egg was cracking open? My parents debated for days if it was suitable. (It wasn't, but in the best possible way.)

Incredible description in Marilynne Robinson's masterpiece, GILEAD. Narrator John Ames renders his grandfather's appearance in a photo via the man's apparent relation to the camera itself, not the photographer, and all elements move and radiate in waves of light and emotion.

Matthew Goode and Alexej Manvelov are terrific in “Dept Q,” a procedural about a cold case unit in Scotland. Their Sherlock Holmes & Dr. Watson chemistry is some rare TV magic.
