And the most important part, the Poison Free Belize Educational Campaign that aims at educating the public about the harm rodenticides have on wildlife. The most ambitious project I’ve had the pleasure of being part of!

This is Ixchel, a White Hawk that came into the center w/ rodenticide poisoning, surprisingly she survived but she's not releasable due to neurological symptoms cause by the poisoning. She's now one of the faces of this campaign & we hope her story will be the one that changes the use of rat poison

Oh beautiful, sadly the Orange-breasted Falcons had already fledge so I couldn’t see them but the Bat Falcon made an appearance as well as the Spider Monkeys!

Not all is sad tho, she will stay with us and teach the public, especially the young public, about the harms of rodenticides for wildlife. #raptors #birds #ratpoisoniswildlifepoison 4/4

After months of care she went into a flight enclosure but we realized she doesn’t see too well, so we started training her to make sure she is non-releasable and sadly she will not go back to the wild. You can see how she can’t calculate the distance #raptors #birds #ratpoisoniswildlifepoison 3/4

When she came in we were able to get an IV and start pumping fluids back into her cause she was bleeding badly… the blood that came out of the IV stayed on the table for almost 2 hours without ever coagulating… that how bad it was… #raptors #birds #ratpoisoniswildlifepoison 2/4

Fingers crossed that the new bae is a good partner and they are successful in fledging the chicks!
