Dear everyone surprised by Keir Starmer echoing Enoch Powell... @teamlabouruk.bsky.social has been taking you for mugs since before 2015 - they have taken every opportunity to lean into UKIP Brexit / Tory rhetoric. The anti-immigration noises aren't new. Even Corbyn was incredibly weak on this.
Labour's infamous "controls on immigration" mug from the 2015 election campaign. Red colour mug, white text which reads "Controls on immigration. I'm voting Labour 7 May", which was available for sale from the party shop during the campaign.

I thought "what, another one? After Jacqui Smith?"

Didn't clock that Labour were so lacking in talent that they had brought back the 00s-embarrassment, and one of the worst Home Secretaries, out of retirement.
On 24 August 2011 it emerged that Smith had arranged for two prisoners on day-release to paint a room in her house, when they were supposed to be undertaking work to benefit the community.
