Absolutely, it seems a lot of book covers have been affected by this lack of effort. Meaningless patterns and stock images fill every shelf of every book store. The cover of a book is art itself and that art needs to represent the book for it to do a good job.

I might be a new writer but I have felt that the whole art of crafting a story really relies on being neck deep in your own work, only to dive deeper for the extra bit that would change it from good to great. That isn't something that can be done with the click of a button, it is hard work.

This is called foreshadowing.

The world would be so much more delightful if every car on the road was a kei truck/van, classic Mini, Messerschmitt KR 200, BMW Isetta, or other similar sized vehicle.

"Genre" is the french word for kind or type. Describing a story's genre is literally saying what kind of story it is.
