ICYMI: @nytimes.com did a good piece on the increasing presence of benzene, a known human carcinogen, popping up in our personal care products like sunscreen. I was quoted about the lack of regulatory safeguards in the personal care product industry. www.nytimes.com/2024/12/05/w...
This Carcinogen Keeps Cropping Up in Personal Care Products (Gift Article)
Benzene has been found in sunscreen, deodorants, acne creams and more. Here’s what to know.

There are many layers here, but I want to comment on one aspect of these findings for now--the editorial board representation. Some will see this and immediately think: we need to get more POC on our boards! I understand that impulse, but encourage you to think a few steps down the game tree 1/n.

Contact Krystal Vasquez directly if you have suggestions for disabled/neurodivergent chemists for their starter pack
Oh! I'd love to hear suggestions or even directly from folks who would want to be included! I think that'll give me more confidence to actually create a disabled/neurodivergent chemists starter pack!

Very informative thread by @drdavidmichaels.bsky.social, former head of OSHA and current prof at GW, on what may happen to #OSHA in the new administration.
I ran #OSHA 2009-2017, and am now often asked what will happen to #OSHA in the coming Trump administration. In this longish🧵, I try to summarize what happened during Trump I and begin to predict Trump II, recognizing that this one could be wildly different than the last one. 1/

Good article by @nytimes.com about rise in chronic conditions in children w/quotes from Tracey Woodruff & Phil Landrigan, and mention of the NTP report on fluoride impacts on children's IQ: www.nytimes.com/2024/11/15/h...
Why Kennedy Sees an ‘Epidemic’ of Chronic Disease Among Children
Trends in child health are in fact worrisome, and scientists welcome a renewed focus on foods and environmental toxins. But vaccines and fluoride are not the cause.
