Whoops, ran into some amusing historical bit during my research. Something to do with pitch bends, lol.

Makes me want to test Opelucid City - Black with the broken May 2022 Winamp NCSF plugin to see if it was ever affected by the portamento oversights or something else:

Unsurprising to be a C&D, if true. (Most likely.)

Managed to convert one video for testing! #video #test #sega

Capture card: Hauppauge WinTV PVR PCI II (PVR-250), model 32031, rev. B210
Source: Sega Genesis (Model 1) - RF, Channel 4
Post-processing: Deinterlacing, yadif (x2) - no cropping!

Had to get IPv6 working on WSL2 on Windows 10 using a switch workaround. These packets didn't show up on Wireshark until I set up a WSL-based distro on my Windows install.

Of course, IPv6 ICMP works using the test firewall rule, but IPv4...

Back on Windows 10 on my main laptop for now. For this process, the other Linux machine (a Dell Latitude D830) will be needed as well.

Though, the Windows SSD needs an 'Optimize' before I do so.

The graphics card has arrived! This is a Dell OEM version of the nVidia GeForce RTX 3060 Ti (non-LHR variant), which replaced the 1660 Super in the gaming build.

As shown, there is protective plastic on both fan centers. I knew this, but forgot to remove them after testing the card.

Attached screenshot of the corrupted file in question, rescued using Safecopy. Lucky me, lol.

This 4TB Toshiba Enterprise drive was part of the main NAS; unsurprising it got replaced, yeah.

Yes... this IS a jab at a certain tech guy named Lawrence on Youtube.

Sis's fallback B660 board with the 32GB RAM, old Intel Core i3-12100 CPU, better CPU cooler, and newer contact frame installed.

The memory was to be tested again (along with the B660 board) and they pass with flying colors.

These will be installed on the current Z690 board... except for the CPU.

Sonic 3 alone. The cartridge will work even if the connection between pin 3 of Sonic 3's 74HC74 and pin B31 is severed.
June 24, 2024 at 8:15 PM
I re-solder the connection of 74HC74 pin 3 to B31, making the connection of the Sonic 3 cart to the Sonic and Knuckles cart. It works again!
June 24, 2024 at 8:12 PM
An example of the Lock-On issue of a Sonic 3 cartridge and Sonic and Knuckles. As shown, Sonic and Knuckles shows up instead of Sonic 3 and Knuckles due to the pin not being connected.
June 24, 2024 at 8:06 PM
Here, pin 3 of the 74HC74 is severed and will no longer make a connection to pin B31 of the cartridge (and as a consequence, not connect to Sonic and Knuckles).
June 24, 2024 at 8:01 PM
Here we have a Sonic 3 cartridge that works perfectly, and in this example, Pin 3 of the 74HC74 will be desoldered.

This is actually pretty amusing, an incorrect thumbnail on a Live TV program page. More detail in the ALT text. Extremely rare that happens in my experience, though.

Current status of the NAS. In short: chaotic yet somehow fine.

Ironically, one of them worked at Equifax as Sr. Director of Security Operations before being hired by Panera Bread on June 2013. Quite a coincidence, lol.

Was searching for old photos of my late Golden Retriever, but ran into this very old screenshot of a predecessor of the home web server instead.

Screenshot was taken February 2, 2012, and the system was retired in 2017 after running for ~6 years.

Hours later: confirmed fixed.

Still monitoring the house voltage from time to time, though.
February 24, 2024 at 6:26 PM
Finally, the power seems to have been fixed for now. This is a recurring issue since summer of 2014; usually every 2-3 years. (Issue is a floating neutral on the meter.)

UPS graphs of the most recent issue. You can pretty much tell the difference between the unstable and usual stable voltage.

This is the setup in parity with the Model 1 Sega Genesis. Photo taken Feb 22, 2022... of the first Model 2.

2x TL974 ICs installed in place of the original LM324 ICs. There is an earlier photo with 7x 4K7 resistors connected point-to-point on the original ICs, which cleaned up the audio.
February 15, 2024 at 4:15 PM
Regarding the header in this profile: This particular model 1 Sega Genesis has an NE5532 IC installed. I since swapped it for a TL972 late January 2024, which is in parity with the Model 2 Sega Genesis, which has 2x TL974 ICs installed.
