Those 3 missed FTs really hurt. Luckily Duke has missed some FT too

Yes DP is a PG. Council is a gamer but yeah he cannot shoot. Wish we coulda got an offensive combo guard but it just didn’t happen.

We have an actual PG. he’s just injured on the bench. What are you talking about? Our larger issue is we’re so small. Frontcourt depth is a bigger issue .

I think it was after we got Zeke. It was around that timeline.

I miss having continuity. What sucks is we actually did good from a recruiting standpoint of finding program guys. We just couldn’t keep them. Guys like Zuby, TGF, Philon are all guys we had but couldn’t keep. We could have a strong, experienced core but it just didn’t work out. Sadly.

It’s a different era. Back in the golden age, we didn’t have to worry about camps/agents having so much power. I don’t think it’s a toughness issue as much it is outside factors dictating whether he plays or not. This is why I don’t put this on Bill. He has gotta be irate.

Idk what to make of the situation. All I know is nobody knows anything other than Bill, DP & his camp. I don’t know if I even put this on DP. I think he wants to play. For whatever reason his camp seems to have the final say. That’s what’s frustrating. Why do things have to be so difficult.

Hahah exactly. It’s hard to get a feel for them right now. I wish the schedule wasn’t this kind of hard because there aren’t a ton of gimme games for confidence. I’m fine dropping a few early if it leads to growth and improvement. It’s a long season.

key is to be disruptive & make other team uncomfortable. We showed we have the capability in the 1st of the UNC game. It’s about consistency. I know being a poor shooting team is hard to watch. We don’t have to be great. gotta be around 35-37%. Last year’s Florida team was 35% on the year.

I’m mean, look at St. John’s last year. They were a horrible 3 point and FT shooting team. They became a good team purely on defense and toughness. That’s the blueprint this team has to follow. I know they didn’t make it far in the tourney but that was a quality St John’s team.

If he doesn’t play in NYC vs Duke, I’ll be surprised. If he doesn’t then the injury is legit. Overall, this team has to develop an identity of defense and toughness. We’re not good enough offensively but defensively we do have athletes and tools to be good . I think D will get better.

Ugh not looking fwd to Tuesday. Our sched is just so tough for a young team. Wish we had more gimme games for confidence. We’re just so small in the front court. May have to go zone or junk defense.
