I share Brooks' contempt for Netanyahu and Trump, but I don’t agree that Trump's made-for-TV military show makes the world safer. Quite the contrary. Repression will grow in Iran and without international monitoring, Iran will weaponise its already enriched uranium.

Just back from Spain, where we traveled only by train, bus and foot. No plane or rented car. “Slow travel”, I call it. We liked the slower pace it imposed. Felt like we saw a lot more of the Basque Country, where we started out, and Moor-influenced Andalusia in the south.

Cordoba was stunning.

Read my review of this terrific series. And let me know what you think, of both the series and the review. It’s a new art form ;-) for me! boxd.it/8yx2XZ
A ★★★★½ review of Ripley (2024)

Photo I took a year ago in Paris only gained poignancy this week with the confirmation of Ariel and Kfir’s assassination by Hamas. The tender gaze of then 4-year-old Ariel seemed directed at his baby brother. That someone could rip the poster of the 8-month-old Kfir struck me as an obscenity.

For my 1st post, a quote from Illinois governor JB Pritzker’s Feb. 19 speech:

“It took the Nazis one month, three weeks, two days, eight hours and 40 minutes to dismantle a constitutional republic. … Tyranny requires your fear and your silence and your compliance. Democracy requires your courage.”
