They could buy us 100 tickets, I’m still not going to “Podfest”

It’s been a while since I’ve gotten a new set of cans but whenever I do, I always break em in with Sweet Dreams by Eurythmics

Which kicks off a playlist with an eclectic set of music to test them out

But Sweet Dreams is always first

And yes, I had the qualified players only filter on and Caleb, who has only three targets, somehow made it through that filter

And, yes, I did in fact bust out laughing when I saw him up top

Quick note on CROE

Basically like CPOE, CROE credits receivers for making tough catches and docks them for missing easy ones

Unlike CPOE, it is less likely to be influenced by factors outside the players control (please correct me if I’m wrong here)

On the note of how he opens his answer to that mailbag question

I mentioned CROE in my last thread when I talked about Rome and called out how Caleb’s CPOE is impacted by our receivers also

Solak’s initial quip has a good bit of truth to it

Here are the numbers

So, I’m still not concerned as I’ve seen growth and think it’s just part of the growing pains (eventually I will be if it keeps showing up)

But Denny is right to call it out

That’s too many misfires in one game
November 25, 2025 at 5:23 PM
Anyway, Caleb’s issue seems to be his footwork from what I can tell

It gets sloppy at times when he’s either dropping back from under center, having to reset in the pocket, or is hitching to his next progression and pulling the trigger

It’s all stuff that wasn’t a part of his game before this year

NFL Pros CROE all but confirms my frustration with Rome this season.

He’s taken a massive step, I don’t want to take that away from him

But he needs to sure up those hands

He’s been more like his first couple years in college than his last year at Wash when it comes to that
November 25, 2025 at 5:23 PM
Also, I stand by my Rome point, there were 2 passes that he should have caught

A third that looked like he settled earlier than Caleb expected, ball was still low so he had to reach and dig it out, still.. if Josh downs can make that catch, Rome should too

Don’t you group me in with them

Im not about to be the one that starts calebanon 😂
November 25, 2025 at 3:01 AM
I think he has and continues to each week though, but I might just be a homer

Let me know if you think there’s something I’m missing here or disagree with
November 25, 2025 at 2:31 AM
I came into the season thinking it was going to be rough early both mechanically and mentally considering.

If he didn’t look significantly more comfortable like he does now, and noticeably better already (FTN seems to agree here) by now, I’d call myself out for copium
November 25, 2025 at 2:31 AM
So add the fact that he is trying to play from the pocket as much as he can and learning to read these out, trust his eyes, and think less

While handling new drop backs, hitching in rhythm with his reads, etc

(On top of everyone else also needing to be on their shit as they learn)
November 25, 2025 at 2:31 AM
Learning to trust what his eyes are seeing instinctually instead of thinking as he takes on all the new concepts

They ran incredibly basic concepts last year, a lot that just attacked the flats (7-flat, slant-flat, bubbles) and he rarely was asked to drop back from under center.

ACC%:
Season - 69.4
Last 4 Games - 72.9
Last 2 Games - 74.6
Last game - 81.5

The reason I mentioned this should have been expected isn’t just him learning to turn his back

Under center pure drop back footwork, learning to play in rhythm tying his feet to reads instead of freelancing…

Right, and I’d accept Rotoviz catchable ball rate (I dont have access to it)

I don’t believe PFRs bad throw rate handles the throw aways or as much as Rotoviz does (like throw aways and batted passes)

But his FTN Accuracy Rates demonstrate the growth I was mentioning
November 25, 2025 at 2:31 AM
Aside: CPOE should really be AdjCPOE

Remove the attempts that were throw away, spikes, and drops and you get a bit closer

Does not fix the fact that it’s still opportunity driven which, but, over a season won’t matter as much

Sample size matters for all stats though, anyway
November 25, 2025 at 1:19 AM
Anyway, @dennycarter.bsky.social hopefully I made a coherent enough argument that this doesn’t come off too ranty and sorry if it does.

Seen examples way worse than this, leading to some real toxic discourse around advanced stats and analytics, so I can be a sensitive ass nerd and obv homer
November 25, 2025 at 1:13 AM
Been amazing getting separation, but catching those is the difference from being a solid WR1 and being Elite.

The frustrating part is, as a prospect, I expected this to be a big part of his game because of his last year at Wash

(Aside: Loveland’s been the exact opposite, my god he looks so good)
November 25, 2025 at 1:13 AM
Which is why, imo, the past couple weeks have been incredibly promising.

Now, about that ball placement..

Rome made a really nice catch, which, fucking finally

He should have made one or two more imo, and has rarely made the tough catch when asked
