The Bach cantata "Herr Jesu Christ, wahr' Mensch und Gott" (BWV 127) was first performed on this Sunday, Estomihi, in Leipzig three hundred years ago. The opening movement is a chorale fantasia on the Lutheran hymn "Christe, du Lamm Gottes" featuring persistent dotted rhythms and recorders.
