The Bergen data for 2025 are finally entered and checked 👍
69 clutches 🪺 monitored (36 forest, 33 urban), 111 adults 🐦 (re)captured, 448 nestlings 🐥 ringed.

@freyacoursey.bsky.social's poster, showing the first preliminary data from her first PhD season, got quite a number of visitors at #EOU2025. Well done, and thanks to data & sample contributors and of course, to @spibirds.bsky.social for facilitating such large-scale studies 🙂 #ornithology

Last captures and last chicks ringed today, 9th monitoring season and @freyacoursey.bsky.social's 1st PhD season successfully completed ✅ Finally a good year for our breeding tits! despite the pine marten taking some late broods... my fingertips will now recover from those fighter females 😉

And so it starts for @freyacoursey.bsky.social's first PhD field season, and our 9th year of monitoring for Bergen... Found not only the first eggs a few days ago (😮), but also the first caterpillars today, in our newly set up urban sites.

Thanks @annecharmantier.bsky.social and the 'Tit team' for a great stay in Montpellier! Super nice to be back, especially when the stay includes one weekend with usable weather, allowing for naturalist trips in Mediterranean nature 🦩

Anna Pantazi did a great job presenting & discussing her MSc work, where she investigated experimentally the use of scented plants by blue tits here up North, and their effects on nestlings & nest invertebrates. Self-chosen topic, but which I was obviously happy to supervise😉 Kudos to her 👏

Had a great week in Montpellier. Congratulations again to 🎉 Dr. Sophie Tissot 🥳 for an excellent PhD defence on transmissible cancer! @annecharmantier.bsky.social, guess where I was on Wednesday: the view may look familiar? Too bad we missed each other, but see you next time 👋
