On a long journey to a PhD on wa'z and da'wa
The new Turkish manuscript portal (portal.yek.gov.tr) is a gift that keeps on giving. Today another great find where the author not just mentions that he compiled his preaching collection using kutub al-maw'iza, but goes on to list 16 of them. Also lists al-tafasir al-maqbul and kutub al-ahadith.

To celebrate my arrival on this platform, I might as well say something about my PhD research on the history of da'wa, a phenomenon that has seen explosive growth since around the 1960s. The two basic questions that I started out with were: whence da'wa? and why did it become such a huge phenomenon?
