What a fantastic project!

Wow! Your rersearch is so interesting. It is also connected to my own research where I mainly study (in an artistic way) how birds have this incredible capacity to adapt to their environment. Here is an image of a procelain nest I made a few years ago, where I incorporated slipcast pills containers.

Never had big explosions during firing, but Chalcopyrite was my worst experience. It volatilised in the kiln during a firing to cone 6, and deposited everywhere in the kiln (walls and shelves). I had to do a major kiln clean-up after...so my relationship with Chalcopyrite is over!

Yes! It is always a surprise to see how it expands and desintegrates!

Hello Samirah! Nice to see that we have really similar research interests, and the form in takes in your beautiful work!
I am not 100% sure what the desintagrating rock was, but it clearly had a high content of Calcium Carbonate (which behaves like that after being fired...as you may already know).
