I believe that voting for the Liberals would be a smart strategic move in the wake of so much uncertainty. Now is not the time to be petty and not vote (that didn’t go so well in the US with 30% of people not voting). We have to put our differences aside and look at the big picture here.

Some might call this a COUP. And he’s also a Canadian citizen, FYI. Canada has our own right-leaning tech bros (aka the brolicharcy) who support PP. Think: Shopify. Make no mistake that what we see in the USA could happen here.

7️⃣ Allegiances - Polievre has been endorsed by Elon Musk numerous times. Whether or not you believe the “salute” was real, it is unequivocally clear that Musk is the world’s richest man with unchecked power and now access to the US administration in unprecedented ways.

The Conservative Party, as it stands cannot recognize that climate change is real and were unable to do so in their recent conventions. The climate should not be a partisan issue. We need a government that acknowledges our changing world.

6️⃣ Climate Change - The Liberals have made progress on reducing carbon emissions in Canada and funding programs that protect lands and waters (albeit slower than some would like and pissing off the folks in resource extraction).

5️⃣ Abortion Rights - The Liberals advocate for a woman’s right to choose. The Canadian Conservatives have put abortion rights back on the table and some within the party would very much like to do what the US is doing and make it illegal.

Based on the core Canadian Conservative base, this could absolutely happen in Canada, affecting Indigenous rights, LGBTQ+ rights, employment law, and all aspects of Canadian society. One thing I learned recently is that white women benefit the most from DEI policies.

As we have seen in the USA, there have been executive orders on everything from making DEI illegal to taking away the rights of trans people. They’re coming for gay marriage next.

4️⃣ Human/Civil Rights/Values - The aggressive language spoken by Canadian Conservatives mirrors that of the MAGA movement and is a 🚩 for me. For example, Polievre has used the term “wokism” more times than I can count (This is known as Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility).

3️⃣ Change of policy - They are removing the carbon tax, admitting this has not worked and are open to working with the energy sector to strengthen Canada’s stance. For those who are focused on Canada’s oil and gas this would likely mean some new pipelines and energy projects, to be honest.

I am particularly relieved to hear Mark Carney is running, given his track record at the Bank of Canada and I hope he wins the race. The Liberals are bringing Canadian businesses together to diversify our trade partners and open up trade amongst provinces.

2️⃣ Economic recovery - The front runners in the Liberal race are well-versed in economic policy and I believe they are the right folks to keep us afloat during what is going to be some pretty uncertain, volatile, and difficult times.

We are a nation rich in resources in a changing world where the Arctic is going to be more important as the ice thaws (think: critical minerals, and the Northwest Passage). The Liberals have been handling this very well, in my opinion and have united Canada (mostly).

1️⃣Canadian sovereignty - Let’s be honest…the recent tariff threats are not about fentanyl or borders. The US administration has expressed numerous times that it would like to use economic force to destroy our economy and then annex Canada. That is the end goal.

Before I dive in, let me be clear: I have been pretty pissed at them in recent months. From corruption to infighting and some questionable policies/PR stunts, I had lost my faith and was ready to defect to the NDP. I have since changed my stance …
