that's really it though, couple other things i would complain about but don't really think are things that should be done publicly and/or are things i imagine GDQ folks know about lol. just wanted my perspective on those couple of things as a bum who just wanted to play video games occasionally

6 (cont): one of my buddies in particular had a Random Fucking Guy use her computer while she stepped away for a sec and he locked it for some reason... and the w9 rep was unable to unlock the computer which meant she would be unable to log out of steam on that computer. really sucked

6 (cont): love the world 9 people but they were also having MAJOR problems with the computers all week - 2 of my 4 attempts of using a PC i would have a rep come over to enter a password, not be able to get the correct password, and just kind of awkwardly shrug and tell me to use a different setup

6: speaking of the casual room: this room as a whole was a massive downgrade. way too few PC setups (was absolutely impossible for me to organize anything with my friends), again, it felt like a space logistics thing since previous years had an entire room just for PCs... what happened :(

5 (cont): this really feels like one of those things where it was a hotel space logistics thing and GDQ staff were aware that it sucked and were cringing about it the whole week, but man... really bad. really enjoyed carrie's panel but couldn't bring myself to watch another one

and some negatives unfortunately

5: panels have gotta get out of the casual room. extremely claustrophobic and creates a TON of noise in both directions - i remember carrie's panel got completely interrupted by some idiot SCREAMING across the room for no reason

4: biased because of My Goat msushi, but community clash was probably the alltime best segment i've watched at a GDQ

3: DK64 runners are so nice. i played probably 4 hours total of DK64 in the casual room (just NLE IL practice) while waiting for friends to wake up, and i had a total of 7 different people come up with me just to chat. this was my 8th GDQ and i've never experienced that when playing any other game

2: average quality of run has gone up so much since 2019 or so lol. not sure if this is an active effort from GDQ org or a cultural change with speedrunners to treat a GDQ run less like A Serious Life Defining Event. probs both. i am glad people are having fuckin fun up there again regardless

1: artist alley fucking kicks. seems like reception was overwhelmingly positive, everyone at the booths was so nice and had some incredible art. 1000% needs to become a mainstay imo. really nothing else to add, got these awesome elden ring posters
