I love it! It reminded me of Victor Jory as Oberon in the 1935 A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

Here’s the pieces that got me started. The plate was done during an online class by @amyraehill.bsky.social through @pocosinarts.bsky.social. Need more dark in the foreground, and the stars are blobby, but otherwise happy with it. The tumbler was an experiment and … can use improvement. 😜

Finally had enough ceramic pieces painted to take them in for firing. Glazed with Mayco Stroke and Coat Wunderglazes, fired at cone 04. Still learning how many coats I need for good coverage, but pretty happy with these. #ceramics

Had a lovely ramble at Lake George today. Spotted orange grisette and green cheese polypore mushrooms, and some interesting insects.

A toasty tan Green Cheese Polypore mushrooms among sits on bark at the foot of a tree, looking unsettlingly similar to a slightly abused hamburger bun. An orange and black Viceroy butterfly suns itself on green leaves. Looking remarkably like a Monarch butterfly, the Viceroy is noticeably smaller. An Eastern Forktail, a small, slender damselfly with a turquoise green body and turquoise blue tip to the abdomen perches on a leaf near spotted knapweed. This damselfly was barely over an inch in length.

A pinecone on a willow tree? The work of the Willow Pinecone Gall Midge, who lays larvae on the tips of willow branches. The gall is formed of abnormal plant growth of overlapping scale-like leaves. The larva develops in the gall.

Screen shot of text. When and How Were Starlings Introduced to America? The European Starlings were introduced to America in the late 1800’s by Eugene . He released about 100 of these birds in New York’s Central Park in 1890 as part of his effort to bring to North American all the birds mentioned in William Shakespeare’s works. The release occurred during his Shakespeare Society’s annual bird release event, where birds mentioned in Shakespeare’s works were set free. The European Starling was among the chosen species for this purpose.
