This is a very good point that I'd never really thought about before! Thanks for sharing it.

There's definitely a lot of people who get very invested in following the rules exactly or in a particular interpretation! I try and avoid that, especially mid game. Even if there's a serious concern about a rule or interpretation, often better to go with the flow and handle it out of session.

I view discussing fine points and contentious rules as a way to better understand game language and reading comprehension. What did the writer intend? What does it actually say? How can I improve in communicating my design intent?
In game I have zero interest in arguing. Resolve it fast, have fun.

I like all of these, are we both unhinged?

Here's my own best attempt: There is not a single TTRPG setting I've read that I'd actually want to use, and I think as a whole, we're going about designing them wrong.

I think, I might not even try to measure pace by scene. I have had one scene last an entire session, but I've never felt the sessions I was in were slow. Some scenes just have a lot in them.

Well, I personally wouldn't want a 50% mix of combat, but with that assumption this seems fine (I'd swap combat and social). I like scenes to have some depth and detail.

Importantly, I do live text as my medium. I don't think it's much slower, but it helps get density that would be hard otherwise.

Wow, fascinating to see some of these replies and compare them to my own experiences. I guess I'm used to going a lot slower than I would have thought.

With that mix? Maybe three scenes, one in each category. I'd expect combat to take twice as long as the others.

Tabletop: Fabula Ultima! I'm really getting into the system, the way it handles classes is very cool.
PC: Aotenjo. Which is basically Balatro but mahjong instead of poker.

I'm pretty sure it stands for substitute. "Sorry we are out of properly sliced bread but we can give you this loaf we stabbed a bit!"

Has this closed already? I intended to apply but came down with a fever before I could get an application together. Now the posting appears removed.

I keep meaning to go to my local ones! They sound nice, and I'm pretty sure it's year round, if somewhat smaller.
