Iran's government is no worse or more repressive than Saudi's, Bahrain's or the UAE's. The difference is the standard of living. And much of that is down to decades of economic warfare waged by the West.

Net immigration halved in 2024. Bogus assylum seekers are about one in 80 new arrivals to UK every year. Nothing has changed lately to make immigration headline news or for the BBC to give it the wall to wall coverage it does.

Always seemed very contrived to me. Pulp and Blur had been knocking around for years before the whole Brit Pop thing. Purely a media invention.
