Shifting the dominant paradigm waaay back left as a 'brilliant, compassionate, evil mentor of justice' and midwife
G & I plan to go down to the protest for a bit. Any guesses on whose sign is whose?

I heard that you could plant smushed berries and end up with a berry plant. I am gullible ehough to put some blackberries and raspberries in a couple of pots (with potting soil) to see if anything germinates. What's the worst that can happen? Scientific method for the win!

Ok peeps, I realize this is def an underwhelming issue compared with everything happening. However, we finally got my Christmas LitterRobot set up. (Wasn't Jesus supposed to have been born in March anyhow?) Any tips for helping cats acclimate?

Another birthapalooza, 4 births/week, instead of 4/month. The last one was a doozy; mama had the flu which caused labor. Everyone fine but I had a COVID flashback as I changed out of possibly germy birth clothes in client's driveway, (in the country so nobody got flashed). 1/2

Anybody local got info on how the Day without Immigrants protest is going? #cbus

Last week's birthapalooza by the numbers: 3 births in 28 hrs 43 min. Time spent with clients during labor, birth & postpartum: 25 hrs 41 min. Time I spent napping between births: 5 hrs 47 min. Average baby weight: 8 lbs. 2 males, 1 female. They all honored the midwife's prayer and TOOK TURNS!

Ok, I swear that this post & the previous one are not related, but obv Pat and I are crotchety this long weekend. Here's the text I sent to the kids: YOUR father came into the kitchen and started fucking around w/MY father's slumgullion recipe that *I* was cooking. 1/2

Have been sitting in a state of funk mourning the installation of the oligarchs/Felon until I realized that "You will need to get a warrant. That is all I have to say." can be sung to the tune of Do You Want to Build a Snowman? & now, even without immediate plans needing the lyrics, I feel stronger.

Today's status: generally surly but resting below the surface to gather up energy for doing What Must Be Done against oligarchs and their white supremacist, conservative, sexist, homophobic, ignorant minions.

My sister had norovirus & is going back to work as an elementary school teacher 48 hrs after finishing vomiting. I told her to stay home another day, but she says getting a sub is hard. This is why diseases spread. If you can stay home and not lose your job, please do www.nm.org/healthbeat/h...

COVID levels continue to be high, probably because everyone thinks it's fairly benign now and has stopped masking. This article shows that the long variety can be worse than what is popularly thought, esp for the olds. Mask up, folks! t.co/N4fNNHOd2A

Today, I did a home visit, shoveled the walk and the driveway (had to go to a funeral out of town yesterday and couldn't get to it then. Now I am ensconced on the couch with my heating pad and sublingual t-relief and I don't want to do anything else constructive today.

Far be it for me to begrudge anybody a snow day, but climate change has really messed with the idea. I grew up in Lima City Schools w/no buses knowing that the superintendent would only call it if the snow were higher than his German Shepherd's back. This is just a couple inches, a dusting really.

So we are still watching holiday movies around here...hey, Christmas lasts until after Three Kings Day, right? I told Pat that I wanted to watch Gremlins, but only from the part where they start causing chaos---that the build up was too slow. Who's with me?

Youngest kid said she needed potholders, which is funny because I used to run Santa's little sweatshop having her and her sibling make potholders for everyone for holiday gifts. So, tonight I made a couple and even Tom Sawyered Pat into making one. Mwoo ha ha ha!

It's been a bit of a bleak holiday, but I was able to shed a little light by repairing my mom's reindeer decoration and getting it out on the lawn to raise "such a clatter". I also figured out that I'm gonna need a floodlight next year to light the whole ensemble.

Also looking for a Mari Lwyd for the nativity. Playmobil doesn't have one. Am thinking about making one with a horse head on a staff that is carried by a figure covered with some kind of sheet of plastic/clay? Again, any leads for demented 3D printing people, or ideas for carrying this out? 2/2

I have a wondrous Playmobil nativity set with all the usual accoutrements. Also Roman gladiators, a wizard, a caganer, la Befana, camel wranglers, Wise Women midwives. I want to add a Playmobil Krampus. I found a lame devil that will do for now, but I really want this. If you hav a lead, lmk. 1/2

So Pat usually gives treats to the cats around this time, but he's out. I put the treats in a toy because I'm busy so they have to work to get them. Sent this to him & he said "Poor kitties having to work for their treats" My response "Yep. It's kitty treat sweatshop all up in here."

PTB, I'm feeling a little Dune-esque: "Beginnings are such delicate times" after dealing with other social media algorithms---I don't want to end up with a ill-fitting curated feed. I just want to see the people I follow/want to follow. Is that so hard?
