I know this is probably rhetorical, but I think, despite claiming otherwise, deep down they know that it wasn't truly their art, so it doesn't feel so personal.

Yes exactly! I genuinely think people get severely addicted to short term rewards and can no longer stand delayed gratification because of the massive torrent of short form content most of us consume. So they reach for generators instead of an art journey. It affects everything in life.

If you cannot enjoy the process of creating art without getting praise from others you need to start over and remind yourself what was fun about art, allow yourself to enjoy the process again. You're really missing out. Art is an experience and the process is most of the point, not just the result.
