Let's not act like all masks are for bad purposes here. Before ICE started wearing them anti-mask rhetoric was used to demonize pro-Palestine and Black Lives Matter protesters. And wound up increasing discrimination towards those of us who wear them for medical reasons.

So, while ICE wears masks to hide their identities because they are cowards who don't want to be held accountable for their racist violence, a lot of people wear masks for other reasons. I wear N95 masks for medical reasons, for example.

Hmm, I think you and them are both right. I think it would discourage more cautious candidates that were on the fence about it anyway from speaking out about Palestine. But the take away from those who were more set on it anyway is going to be that caring about antisemitism will not help you, yes.

So I was confused by this, but then I saw someone else in Bluesky point out that the history of the Judenrat explains the ADL. At one point they got attacked for criticizing Elon Musk's antisemitism, so they stopped. Now they don't want to attack any MAGA right in the hope they'll be spared.

Unfortunately I've come to the same conclusion. The only thing to do is encourage massive effort to stop the genocide and massive effort at political education about antisemitism at the same time.

Obviously, these are selfish motives. (They can also take on Nativist or antisemitic implications too.) But Americans who participate in pro-Palestine protests aren't considered similarly suspect for it when we oppose this aspect of American imperialism for obviously selfish reasons.

More than that, quite of a lot of Americans talk about being against Israel's genocide because they want their tax dollars to benefit Americans instead or because they are afraid Israel will export the technology they use to American police to be used against American BIPOC.

Follow their socials and show up to protests and meetings where they ask for allies, as a start.

Seeing this again here, I strongly recommend everyone reach out to local immigrant advocacy organizations and trans advocacy organizations! In my experience, many of them are desperate for allies right now. And there are a lot of state level and local bills to testify on, whether for or against.

Wouldn't surprise me if they are too. Like, it's not like the Trump administration cares about us having time off for holidays or being called slurs. Probably the only ones the Trump administration cares about are the ones going after pro-Palestine students, not actual antisemitic discrimination.
