I got an email from our main librarian. She asked me if I wanted some old Literary Magazines they just had sitting around in storage. I said sure. She delivered SIX CRATES!

And ill end on my favourite small detail:

The blink-and-you'll-miss-it recreation of the moment where, after Coleman's triumphant comeback victory, he fails to jump out of the ring and falls awkwardly onto the canvas. Such a fun little reference for fans.

Ryan Bader plays Coleman but he just mostly just looks and talks like Ryan Bader, which is also a little odd. Bader is 42, but it looks like more than a decade separates him and Johnson, despite the film explicitly telling us that Coleman is a few years OLDER than Kerr.

Some thoughts on The Smashing Machine now I've had a minute.

I was interested in it, as the original Smashing Machine documentary was one of the many texts I consumed while planning and researching for BRUISE.

No big deal but BRUISE has more reviews than the new Dan Brown!!!*

BRUISE is written by a Canadian author, published by a Canadian-owned publisher, and printed in Canada.

Elbows up.

A treat to go back up to Cambridge to do a session for their PGCert in Teaching Creative Writing. Love chatting with so many different teachers about their work.

Location was pretty nice as well.

Bold of Duke to make a public statement saying they fundamentally don't understand fiction or art.

Suikoden x Critical Role!

The best games of my childhood combined with the media that helped me get through my PhD.

I don't know what part of me is most excited for this, but it's definitely something. I am overwhelmed.

I'm excited to officially announce the release of my debut novel BRUISE, out this May. It's been a long time in the works, and I've had a lot of support along the way. Thank you to everyone who helped me get here.

Links to pre-order, for those interested, are in my bio.

Had an incredible time speaking with Eleanor Catton at #Falmouthbookfestival on Saturday. So much so that it looks like I forgot how to sit like a normal person.
