Later on, in the 70's and 80's, the LGBT+ community reclaimed the triangle [oriented both ways] as defiant symbols of identity and memorial, in one case coupling it with the phrase SILENCE = DEATH [adapted during the AIDS Crisis in 1985]

This is a symbol we as the LGBT+ community reclaimed defiantly from those who persecuted us among six million Jews during the terrible genocide of the Holocaust.
What was once a patch sewn to subdivide prisoners in the camps, it has come to be a symbol of defiance and empowerment in visibility.

This book caught my eye while shelving in the picture books aisle. Reminded me of a trip I took once, "One Morning in Maine" indeed.
