Not even. Thinking isn’t what causes you to exist; you just know that you exist because you can think. You shouldn’t doubt your own existence; that’s all I’ve ever taken the phrase to mean.

It’s almost always super tone deaf coming from people who thought Biden or Harris would fix everything, too. Biggest difference between them and the MAGA crowd is they haven’t (yet) had to see what the people they’ve been cheerleading for would do with the same power.

I’m madly curious now, so I’m looking into getting a copy (or preview, at least) of the book through a library. I’m not particularly interested in paying for the book in full, *especially* if it’s going to turn out that the book’s inclusion of the quote lacks proper citation.

This blog post earthly.dev/blog/softwar... attributes the claim that Pike said this to the book “Ultimate Go Notebook”. The book’s author makes the same claim — that the quote came from Pike, and that the quote is printed in this book. Did he interview Pike for this?

…yes?

That just means you’re gonna be the proud author of a popular ORM in a newish language someday

Annoying, but you know, I did it anyway because somehow this thing reached a lot of people in my family that “do something” calls haven’t tended to reach since (at least) Obama, and I want them to have as good an experience as possible with doing something.

Haven’t got around to it yet but I intend to this weekend. For the usual reasons, I want to build as straightforward an example as possible instead of just pasting code from the bit that seems not to work and trying to redact.

Okay but how is that different from left (material analysis, class consciousness, community building, solidarity, reality) vs right (debunked “theories”, identity hate / “anti woke”, shortsighted selfishness, delusion)?

Honestly if it’s only up to me, I like the design of fcors better. But we went with the one that requires less refactoring from our previous cors middleware.
March 1, 2025 at 12:39 AM
I just switched to this after seeing gin-contrib/cors overly eager “validation” against the origin header fail valid requests from our own chrome extension (and any workaround still using the package would’ve compromised security in some way). Excellent work on both versions of this.

Kinda wishful thinking that it ends this year, no?

The Wheatley Core has already been invented, unfortunately.

“This statement is false.”
“You’re absolutely right! Wait, I mean wrong. No, right. Yeah, that’s true, innit.”

We unfortunately don’t have a poll showing the preferences of voters who wanted more genocide and less healthcare; all I have is a guess that those people probably either favored Trump or weren’t paying attention and would’ve voted Harris anyway.
February 9, 2025 at 12:42 AM
Which is why the IMEU poll above focuses on eligible voters who could’ve voted for Harris but chose not to: those were the ones she could’ve won with a different platform but lost with this one. Pretty clear this was not “4th most important” to swing voters.
February 9, 2025 at 12:33 AM
Yeah — it’s bad strategy to try to appeal to people who are already voting though. People who were already voting for Harris were largely “blue no matter who” and couldn’t be alienated no matter what. People who were already voting for Trump wanted things that would make things worse.
February 9, 2025 at 12:31 AM
Over 1/2 of respondents in that poll probably would’ve turned out for Harris if she’d reversed her positions on Gaza and on universal healthcare (“the economy” being solved by not spending so much money on free weapons for another country that already has universal healthcare, spending it on ours).

But does it weigh the same as a duck?
