Ppl who join cults are by their very nature desperate for the security of being part of someone larger than life. The more he appears above the law, the more appealing he is.

The other thing-- that many miss about trump-- is that he is not offended/upset/hurt to be called evil. This isn't an insult to malignant narcissists &sociopaths (he's both). He's not in a position to agree publicly, but being called evil is a score to him
