Lover of early modern drama, PhD on early modern epitaphs in manuscripts. Chicken wrangler. she/her
Hanging out with my bestie, and we turned up wearing the same outfit but just in different colours. Them with green hair, striped shirt, green dungas. Me, red hair, red shirt, black dungas. She's got a green tea-cosy hat on. I've got an orange one. Realise we are just Tilly and Tiny from Tots TV

They are all pretty resistant to neglect and very beautiful and will come with care instructions 🪴

Went to a beach known for its seaglass and filled our pockets, then sat in the sun and had a crow party about it, 15/10 strongly recommend

I'm good! I do miss research but I also enjoy relative job security and an easily navigable career path (I work I researched development now). We have a cute dog and that's honestly about as good as it gets 🥰

Alt pride variety show and picnic were both just so fun, weird, chaotic, uplifting things to be part of.

The last bit of alt pride is the makers' market next week, so the final bit of furious linocutting frenzy awaits for my stall!
August 16, 2025 at 11:10 PM
I'm very excited about the makers' market as I will be selling my lino prints for the first time ever. My living room table has been a little print shop for the last few weeks while I build up stock of all my existing prints, and work on a couple of new ones!

AND THAT'S NOT ALL EITHER

The following weekend there will be a Makers' Market at the Blue Moon. There's going to be 22 different stalls, follow the insta link for info on some of the makers (and more to come!)

Did the democracy thing today. Still a couple of hours for you to do the same. Dog petting opportunities abound.

So that coffee social for trans folks I mentioned yesterday? It's fully funded.

If you're trans, and in Cambridge area, there's treats at a cafe waiting for you along with a lovely group of people to hang out with.

This is Lenny, he whines and paws at the blanket if you don't tuck him in before bed. Pillows also non-negotiable.

Just brought Lily home from the vets. Someone shot her in the back of the neck on Saturday evening. I have no idea how she is still alive, but here she is. I'm so relieved to have her back home safe.

Someone shot one of my chickens. She's still alive, though I really don't know how. This 9mm ish bearing was embedded in the back of her neck, just below her skull.

I have no words.

Our labrador is besties with our neighbour's greyhound, we took them on a big day out to the Christmas market in Ely. I think literally everywhere we paused to browse, both dogs were given endless ear rubs. 15/10 experience all round.

I'm guessing I have been put on one of the starter packs since I suddenly have a whole load of academic followers, which is kinda flattering. Welcome from the Other Place presumably! Things were bad there. Have a goofy dog.

This is my tension swatch - just started the actual jumper. First go at a colour work jumper, so very excited! The wool was a gift when I submitted my thesis in (ahem) 2021 so about time it came out of the stash.
November 10, 2024 at 11:34 PM
The yarn in the above picture is probably going to be really splitty. It's cotton and there isn't much "fuzz" making those individual strands hold together.

This stuff is acrylic and you can see it is a bit fuzzy, the twist in the wool is tighter, it's not going to fight your hook and split apart.
November 10, 2024 at 11:22 PM
I don't think it's so much an acrylic/real wool issue, more than you are moving from something with a fully uniform strand to something that actually can be separated as you work, like this:
