Blair paced outside his tent, scanning his surroundings for other soldiers, but everyone seemed to be asleep, or busy at the main fire further into their makeshift camp. He was alone. At his hip, the heavy weight of a dagger pulled his hip down into the earth. Guilt attempted to suffocate him within the dirt. He didn’t want to let it consume him. He needed to act while his mind was still clear, still on the right path. But was it? The right path? Was killing a young girl really going to save his kingdom?

Outside, there was indeed a courier waiting. Upon the man’s shoulder, the unnaturally large stature of an Irkallan messenger hummingbird sat like a hawk, its long, thin beak looking more like a rapier than a needle. Its colorful feather’s ruffled, revealing the multiple pairs of wings tucked into its side. “Ah, Blair O’Connell I presume? This bird and this letter came for you a little over an hour ago. It’s an official correspondence from the capital.” Indeed it was, as around the giant hummingbird’s iridescent neck was a leather strap holding a small piece of godstone indented with the royal seal. These birds were only sent out by members of the High Council of Irkalla, or by the Crown itself. Nervously, Blair accepted the thick scroll from the courier and opened it. It was a summons from the Grandmaster of the Irkallan military. He needed to come to the capital - immediately. Yes, this is Vander, or what is left of him. In the video game League of Legends that this series is based off on, he's known as "Warwick", & has been teased for several years to have connections with Jinx & Vi, but no one in the community knew the name 'Vander' at the time.
